OCTOBER TIDE - Grey Dawn LP + CD
"Grey Dawn" includes eight tracks of mournful doom/gothic metal, recorded at Studio Underground (Carnal Forge) in Sweden.
October Tide was a project formed by Katatonia's Jonas Renkse (vocals) and Fredrik Norrman (guitars) in 1995. Much of the material was written during a period of inactivity for main band Katatonia. Grey Dawn was the band's second and final album, originally released in 1999. The album is in a similar vein to the earlier releases from Katatonia with the melancholy atmosphere conjured from doom riffing layered with somber melodic guitar leads. It is often seen stylistically as a successor to the classic Katatonia album 'Brave Murder Day'; because as Katatonia started to progress further away from the dark corners of extreme metal to territories new, so 'October Tide' continued these sorrowful slabs of metal and the album quickly became a cult classic, and a much sought after release. "Grey Dawn" includes eight tracks of mournful doom/gothic metal, recorded at Studio Underground (Carnal Forge) in Sweden.
